Durga Upasana

The Path of the Divine Mother

Durga Upasana is the devoted worship of Goddess Durga, the supreme manifestation of Shakti who rides the lion and vanquishes all forces of darkness. She is known as Mahishasuramardini — the destroyer of the buffalo demon — and as the compassionate Mother who protects Her children with fierce love.

In the tradition of Shyamananda Mandali, Durga Upasana is practised with deep reverence, purity of intention, and under the direct guidance of the Revered Guru and Gurumata. The practice encompasses mantra japa, ritual worship (puja), meditation on the various forms of the Goddess, and the cultivation of unwavering devotion (bhakti).

Essence of the Practice

True Upasana is not merely outer ritual. It is the continuous remembrance of the Divine Mother in every breath, every thought, and every action. Through sincere practice, the seeker gradually dissolves the ego and becomes a pure instrument of Her will.

The Goddess resides as the very power within all beings. By worshipping Her with a pure heart, the practitioner awakens that same power within and realises the non-dual truth of Shakti.

Guidance of the Guru

In Shyamananda Mandali, all practices of Durga Upasana are received through the living grace of the Guru. Specific mantras, rituals, and deeper sadhanas are imparted only after proper initiation and according to the readiness of the seeker. This protects the sanctity of the tradition and ensures the safety and spiritual progress of the disciple.

Seekers are lovingly invited to approach the Mandali with humility. The path of the Divine Mother is open to all who come with a sincere heart.
